An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dev Ops Engineer to be a part of the Rakuten journey in developing the most exciting global ecosystem.
You will be working in a new European Ops team and be part of a bigger global team with aspirations to work in a global ‘follow the sun’ using Dev Ops teams in Tokyo, Europe and later America. Occasional travel to our Tokyo headquarters and other locations is required along with considerations of working with global teams.
The role
As Dev Ops Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the production systems – mainly RMSg our e-commerce platform (Rakuten Merchant Servers global) used across European countries and beyond. Using mainly open source tools you will be using Chef for automation, code deployment, proactive platform monitoring and troubleshooting and root cause analysis, plus capacity planning for our growing business and trading peaks.
Your duties & responsibilities will include:
• Working in a Dev Ops team environment related to the RMSg platform, as part of the team your work could typically include:
a. Working closely with developers from initial project ideas to code deployments
b. ‘Automate everything’ with Chef
c. Designing and logging systems with reporting and alerting front ends
d. Production troubleshooting and clear communicating
• To plan and agree any change management activities with regard to the system ensuring quality assurance and constant availability.
• Ensuring proactive system capacity planning for the RMSg platform accommodating growth, new functionalities and users.
• Co-ordinating, facilitating and executing maintenance operations.
• To assume ownership of all project tasks allocated, reporting progress and issues to the line manager as required.
